Busy making things look pretty

Anyway, my solution is what you see in the picture: I covered them with pretty fabric. Aren't they sweet now? You'd never guess they had a past as lowly coffee containers.

They are super-easy to make. You'll need your jar(s), fabric, elastic (ca. 2-3 cm / 1 inch wide), ribbon (optional).

Cut a round piece of the fabric that will fit the jar, then mark it on the back so you know where to attach the elastic. Measure the elastic around the lid in question, make your piece of elastic a little shorter than the circumference of the lid.

Pin the elastic (on the back of the fabric, obviously) a little further from the centre than the marks you made, by ruffling it (I think that's what you call it in English, huh?). Make sure that the ends of the elastic overlap a little bit.

Sew the elastic (you may have to sew it twice, depending how wide your elastic is) and you're done! Finish of with your ribbon.

If you don't know how to sew, or just can't be bothered, just wrap an elastic band around the fabric - the ribbon does a good job of hiding it! In fact, can you spot on which one of mine I used this method? ;-)

Let me know if you try this - I'd love to see it!
