Book love

We went to the library on Saturday to see if they had some good stuff in their book sale. And, boy did they ever! Just look at that pile! All for under £4.

Some fiction for the both of us, a gardening book for me (hope is eternal, right, cause I'm not much of a plant person!) and will you look at that Star Wars book! And I hadn't even noticed that, T pointed it out to me.

One book I got was A Room with a View, which I've never read before, but I've watched the film a few times. I actually only got the book because the pages have gone yellow and I had this idea that I could use it for some kind of creative purpose...

But anyway, this is a lovely book, and it makes me long to go to Italy (like it takes much to crave that!), although not so much to Florence, because I'm more in love with the Eternal City of Rome.

It is a strange book in a way; the language is very old fashioned, I guess. Sometimes I barely know what they mean, it seems that some words may even have shifted meaning since the book was written. It is an interesting view of the Baedeker wielding English and the snobbery of certain classes towards anyone who acts outside the norm.
