So the other day I found myself pondering the word umbrella. Which is a bit of a misnomer for something you use to protect yourself from the rain. There's hardly a lack of shade/shadow in rainy circumstances!
In Danish you use either a parasol or a paraply. The former you use to block the sun, the latter to protect yourself from the rain. Is there a corresponding word in English? Paraply means something like 'against the rain'. It's from the French, pluie, rain.
Anyway, it occurred to me that I should make an illustration of this. It's just a silly little thing. But I hope you like it. And I hope you won't need your paraply today! ;-)
