Stitchy experiment

Sometimes I like my embroidery to be random.. no pattern, no real thought behind it. Just playing with colours and stitches.

Because I make patterns, I think it is important to break away from the pattern-thinking. Sometimes the experiments inspire a pattern or aspects of it becomes part of the pattern.

I like experimenting with a limited number of different stitches. Again, my patterns usually have 5-6 different stitches and they kind of have their 'roles', but what if one stitch could do the job of another stitch?

In this little piece I have used mainly Daisy stitches, even the ones with the long 'tail', with a few French knots thrown in for good measure.

What to do with my experiments? I don't know... at the moment they are in a drawer. However, this one isn't that big, the hoop is 4", so I am thinking maybe I will turn it into a brooch. A pretty large brooch.. more like wearable art. What do you think? Too over the top?

I really like it. Perhaps a bit big for a brooch though. Would make a nice feature on the bottom of a blouse.

I LOVE it! The colors and texture are VERY appealing! It would be a big brooch, but very cool looking.

I've had frames on the brain for a couple days. I think it would be neat to stitch a wedge of this design in the four corners of a fabric frame and have the long daisies reaching toward each other along the frame's sides.

it's a redorangepinkblue explosion:
adorable:
maybe you could stitch it to a large piece of fabric and put it on your dressing table: or dining table:
or a scarf:
or a pillowcase:
or a hankie:
or on a skirt:
the possibilities are endless!

That is so pretty! I kind of reminds me of either a firework or a colorful germ (I've stitched some germs, and think they're really fun).
