Wear sunscreen. Seriously.

Hey, we went to the beach today. Boy, that was hot! No shade. At all. Neither of us is actually that into going to the beach. It's kinda boring. I'd brought both a small crochet project, embroidery, sketchbook and a book to keep me entertained. Excessive? Perhaps.

I like this photo. I didn't take it on purpose. But I like it. All that blue sky and then a little splash of colour.

See? Crochet. And sand. And a quilt I made. Which made its first outing into the wild. Couldn't keep the sand off it. That's what happens at the beach, I guess!

You know, I am always nagging on Tony to put on sunscreen. When he goes out on his bike and it's sunny, I'm there at the door saying "did ya put on sunscreen?!" "remember the sunscreen, dude!" Ok, I don't actually call him dude, but you get the idea...

Ohhh, I think you can appreciate the irony, then, that despite my best effort to smother myself in sunscreen, it didn't quite go to plan. To wit:

Scary stuff, people!! I don't often put my face on the blog, because I'm kinda private and stuff. So why the heck show you this nightmare? Well, I hope that 1) y'all are smarter than me and always put on enough sunscreen, 2) if you're as dumb as me, hopefully you'll learn from my mistake and put on that friggin' sunscreen. And the photo doesn't even look as red as I am in reality!

My poor, poor face, so hot and itchy. Ouch.

Please, please, please: wear sunscreen!

Ouch, ouch! It is somewhat funny when we sunblock addicts/pushers (I am one, too) get burned. I got such a burn early this spring while working in the garden, despite my SPF 50, that the outline of the burn is STILL a bit visible on my back two months later! Sigh.

Well, dab some vinegar onto your face and steer clear of the sun for a few days. Ouch...! Poor thing...

I'm right there with ya, Carina! Spent the day in the sun (right after smearing my kids with sunscreen) and came home lobsterrific! Aloe is my bestest friend in the whole wide world.

Oh, you poor dear! I used to burn every summer. Please take good care (stay hydrated and put on aloe & lotions).

Oh... I feel sooo sorry for you! I know it hurts terribly to have such a sunburn. Hope it will calm down soon!! - and yes, aloe is good :))

Ouch! I hope it's starting to heal up and feel better. I know how that is--I burn so easily and sometime miss places or don't use enough sunscreen.

Year or two ago, I was sitting in the grandstand at the county fair for a couple hours watching the horse races and hadn't put on any sunscreen at all. The whole grandstand was made of metal and I was in the sun, and I had these weird sunburns on the backs of my legs where the sun was reflected--that hurt so much. (Weirdly enough the fronts of my legs didn't burn at all, even though they were in the sun the whole time.)

(Hope I haven't posted this four times in a row--I kept getting an OpenID error so switched to Google to log in.)

Ouch - sounds like I am not the only one who's had a bit of a run-in with the sun!

Thankfully, it is starting to get better. :-)
