Thread tip

Threads in a corner
This is a little trick I've started using when I work on a new embroidery pattern: tying a bit, 2-3", of each thread colour in a corner of the fabric. It may only be useful to me because I make patterns, but I thought I'd share it anyway. ;-)

I think it is quite handy to have all the colours there for reference. Sure, yes, of course, you can write down the colour numbers, (I do that too) but I like being able to see the colour and not just a random number.

Although, I must admit that some of the colours aren't that random any longer. For example, I can tell you that DMC 957 and 956 are both pink. And 3844, 3845 and 3846 are all turquoise. And don't get me started on the orange colours! Or how about 907, my favourite green!

That's pretty nerdy, huh? But I bet I'm not alont..? Please tell me I'm not alone!!

Speaking of DMC colours, if anyone has any inside info about how their colour numbers work, I'd love to know, because they seem to be all over the place, making no sense at all!

Ok. Back to working on the new pattern. If I can my act together, I might even finish it this afternoon!
